Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Residents reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

At one point on yesterday, over 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
